Borçka Karagöl

A forest-fringed landslide lake in the hills inland from Borçka.

A closer look

At Borçka Karagöl, the surrounding woodland is as much a part of the view as the water. The lake formed when a landslide blocked the Klaskur stream. Reflections bring the trees into the scene, making a slow walk along the permitted shore paths more rewarding than a quick photograph.

This is a different destination from Karagöl in Şavşat. Allow a separate part of your itinerary for Borçka rather than assuming the two lakes are neighbouring stops.
