A closer look

The Clock Tower is an easy landmark to recognise on a walk through central Balıkesir. Its tapering stone body and clock level stand apart from the lower buildings around it. The present structure reflects rebuilding and repairs following an earthquake, rather than an untouched survival of the earliest tower.

Make it a short stop before or after the Kuva-yi Milliye Museum. Walking around the exterior reveals both its façades and its place within the old city centre.
